Non-Medical Books

Dr. Silverstone become increasingly interested in the energy sector in Alberta, and wrote two books on this. One was on the possibilities for nuclear power and green energy (published in 2009), the other was entitled “Oil sands: World’s Greenest Oil” (published in 2010) and was subtitled “Turning the oil sands from black to green”.

It focused on a novel proposal to help the oil sands become “green”, namely change the royalty rates paid by oil sands companies to reward those which had lower greenhouse gas emissions.

This became a local best-seller and he made multiple presentations to over 2,500 individuals throughout Alberta on this book, which sold over 1,500 copies (a large number for an independent publication).
